Physical Therapists are movement experts. We strive to heal the body and improve your mobility. We believe that individualized hands-on treatment leads to the best outcomes in most cases. You can put a cold pack on yourself, a massage therapist can work out the knots, a personal trainer can show you exercises, a doctor can give you injections or pills. A Physical Therapist will create a comprehensive plan of care to improve your biomechanics and address the source of your problems to assist in providing the best outcome possible.
Short answer is yes, but there are exceptions.
If you are direct-pay, you may be treated by a Physical Therapist in the state of Texas without a prescription for 10 business days.
If you're a wellness visit, no referral is required.
If you have Medicare Part B you will need a doctor to sign off on our treatment plan prior to your first appointment.
Home Health agencies provide Physical Therapy (PT) and other rehab services as well as nursing care, social workers, home health aides, and other medical assistance. Home Health requires that you be homebound and have services signed off by a physician after a face-to-face visit. PT sessions in home health are generally 30-40 minutes. While we do visit you in the comfort of your own home, Performance & Recovery PT (PRPT) is not a home health agency. We provide the same or in some cases a higher level of care you would receive in an outpatient clinic for a full hour.
The biggest difference is we don't have a brick-and-mortar establishment. For cash pay we are free to see you at your home or any other location in the community you can think of. However, medicare clients are limited to their home.
The other difference is we are expert specialists. You will have a highly personalized plan of care focusing on recovery and ability to return to the cool things you love to do.
We are currently in-network with Medicare Part B only.
In order to provide the individualized 1:1 treatment for a full hour without insurance companys' restrictions on plan of care, price
flexibility/discounts, number of visits, location, etc, we have opted to not be in-network with any commercial insurance provider.
If you are a direct-pay client, we can provide you with a superbill which may allow you to collect some or all of the cost from your insurance provider, depending on your plan. We do not guarantee your insurance provider will reimburse you; it is up to you to check your benefits.
If you are a Medicare Part B recipient we will bill Medicare and your supplemental insurance on your behalf, there will be NO OUT OF POCKET cost for you. We are happy to assist you in any way we can.
(Wellness plans are different - see below)
If a patient finishes a PT plan of care or is not symptomatic, they can request wellness services. Wellness includes the promotion of health and fitness. Some patients want assistance with their exercise regimen, walking program, Big&Loud routine, a once a month "tune-up", or want further stretching and return to high-level activity. This all falls under wellness. Medicare Part B does not pay for wellness but beneficiaries may opt to direct-pay for these services.
While cash or check are preferred, we also accept Zelle, Venmo, Cashapp, and Visa/Mastercard. You can also pay with a health savings account or flexible spending card.
Direct-pay is required on the day of service. In accordance with the No-Surprises Billing act, we will not be sending you a bill to collect payment.
Typically, regular PT sessions last 55 minutes to one full hour with the exception of how you are feeling that day. Your first evaluation visit might be a little longer depending on the complexity. We believe a full hour provides us the opportunity to be thorough and provide the personalized care you deserve.
We prepare you for surgery. For example, if you have an orthopedic surgery scheduled, we can devise and implement a "pre-habilitation" program that will maximize your outcomes post-surgery. The stronger you are going in, the better you'll do coming out.
PRPT follows all CDC guidelines and Universal Precautions will be applied at all times. All equipment brought into a patient's home is sanitized between patients. Our therapists are fully vaccinated, screened for fever and symptoms daily, and have access to home tests. We utilize KN95 masks for all visits. Clients or family members who have tested positive must delay visits until 5 days after a negative test.
We will always keep you with YOUR same therapist. The only exception is if your therapist is sick or on vacation. We may utilize a temporary replacement to ensure we keep you on the right track.
Our primary focus is adults age 18+, however we may accept teens as young as 13 on a case-by-case basis. We do require a parent/guardian to be present during the entirety of the session with anyone under 18 years of age.
You can speak to someone on staff or directly with a PT during a discovery session to determine if Performance & Recovery Mobile PT is right for you.
