Many stroke patients get themselves squeeze balls or putty to strengthen their grip. Grip is important, but it's easy to neglect OPENING the fingers. This will exercise your finger extensors. Now, if you don't have any finger activation, you'll need to work with a PT or OT to get to that point, but this device is great for progressing. use these on most of our stroke patients.
This is just like the ones above, but with increased resistance to progress you along your path of recovery.
Fine motor work should be a foundation of stroke recovery. These will help with control and finger dexterity. Plus we can always progress the difficulty and make things harder when you're ready! Comes with 1lb-8lb resistance

Dycem or dycem alternatives have MANY applications. You can use some on a table or counter to stop items from sliding around on you, you can use it under a wheelchair cushion to keep it from moving, or you can use it to help you grip items. Some people prefer the original dycem but if you're on a budget the cabinet liner above works just as well.
This item will button your shirt buttons when one hand is unable to assist at all. We would like to work on getting the recovery hand back to normal, but if you're in a hurry this device will do the trick for now.
The ultimate goal of therapy is to help your recovery side do normal things like open a can with two hands. But if you can't yet, this is a great device for getting the job done.
You can lock meats, fruits, or vegetables in place or use it to keep a bowl in place. If you can't get your recovering side involved with cooking due to safety concerns, you can use this and at least put the recovery arm on the counter to help support your balance.
Another device to help you in the kitchen. Doing everyday activities for yourself is great for the soul.
You can't use your condition as an excuse to not clean up! This will help you clean cups, glasses, bowls, and mugs.
We utilize fancy "mirror boxes" to teach the brain that the recovering hand can move. Those boxes are about $85. This will get the same job done. Angle it so it looks like your recovery hand is moving when you move your performing hand. This leads to rewiring in the brain! If you've never used one before, we'd be happy to schedule a visit to instruct you on a home mirror-box exercise program
